Helping Fate Along
Well, our clever fate-inspired plan for getting out new dog ended up needing some help. The woman who was going to pick her up in Little Rock AR, and then deliver her to KC couldn't make it. So instead, De and I drove down to Oklahoma City (half way to the breeder's in Austin TX) and picked her up today. We will drive home in the morning. But for those of you who cannot wait for pictures... |

The Divinity of Dogs
Sent to me by a friend, and while there is very little that Ben Stein and I agree on, this is one of them... |

Then Fate Stepped In...
We have been dog-less now for several months. And we have decided that we don't like it. I am pleasantly surprised by this, as I assumed we could easily get used to not having to wipe feet all the time, clip toenails, etc. And we did, kind of. But have had a dog pretty much constantly since we moved home from Sweden in 1986. We miss it much more than we expected. Not to mention that we have discovered we are slobs, and we need a dog to come along behind us cleaning up! SFSF ( This got way too long for no cut... )We should have a new dog in about 3 weeks! |

G&G - October 2009
This month was Linda's pick, so this past Friday we went to The Courthouse Exchange on the square in Independence. It is a little bar and grill in the basement of a building across the street from the courthouse. It has comfort food and that's pretty much it. While it wasn't anything to rave about, it was also decent fare for the price. ( Click for details... )The food was plentiful and pretty much what you would expect. The place wasn't very busy for a Friday night, but it has been around for almost 100 years, so I imagine it can survive this recent down turn. They probably survive on the lunch crowd anyway. That and people coming to watch the numerous televisions for sporting events. We ended up spending just over $20 each, which makes us all pretty cheap dates! |
